No-exam life insurance
Who fits the no-exam path, how it functions, and what happens if you do not qualify.
Many companies now offer fast-track underwriting: for applicants in certain age and cost ranges, they decide using your application, your medicine history, your driving record and other records rather than a physical. Some answers come back within a day. Each quote displays whether an exam is required, probably required, or not required.
What it changes
No exam does not mean no evaluation. Your statements get checked, and a policy written on false information can be challenged within two years. If the carrier has questions from its data, it may request an exam or labs; then you choose what to do.
Who tends to qualify
Usually people younger than about 60 seeking amounts within the carrier's quick limit, with no serious health issues and not using tobacco in the last year or more. Some carriers take results from a recent doctor's visit and bloodwork in place of their own exam.
If an exam is needed, it is normally a 20- to 30-minute appointment by a paramedical examiner at your home or workplace in the San Luis Obispo zone, at no charge. Healthy people often get better rate classes from results, so an exam is not necessarily bad.
